Microsoft will end support for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025. After this date, there will no longer be software updates, security patches, or technical support available for this operating system. Continuing to use Windows 10 beyond this deadline significantly increases your systems’ vulnerability to viruses, malware, and security breaches.
Required Actions
Contact your IT provider promptly to assess all clinic computers and servers currently running Windows 10. These systems must be upgraded to Windows 11 for workstations or Windows Server 2022/2025 for servers. If you are using Windows Server 2019, check with your IT provider to confirm whether Extended Security Updates have been purchased, as this option will also provide continued protection.

Ongoing Server Maintenance
Beyond the initial upgrade, maintaining your server security requires monthly attention. Microsoft releases critical security updates on the second Tuesday of each month, and these updates require server restarts to take effect. Ensure your server is configured to restart automatically each month, scheduled at least two hours after your daily backup completion and several hours after clinic closure.
